Yin Yoga and Coffee Morning

We will begin with a Yin Yoga class. Yin Yoga is a slow paced yoga practice ideally suited to people who are new to yoga. Yoga asanas or postures are held for a longer period of time (up to 5 minutes) to work into the connective tissues and joints. In turn, this aids in improving range of mobility over time and can support recovery after running or a gym session. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to an existing exercise regime, or an ideal introduction to yoga and relaxation.

Following our class there will be a chance to have a chat, enjoy some tea/coffee, cakes and company.

The class and coffee morning will be raising money for Macmillan, all donations will go towards the charity.

Date and Time: Saturday 29 June 2018, 9.30am-11.30am

Yoga Nidra – Free Relaxation Class

Yoga Nidra is defined as ‘yogic sleep,’ and is one of the best kept yoga secrets. One hour of Yoga Nidra is equivalent to Four hours of your deepest, dreamless state of sleep. It is a deep form of guided relaxation, during which you remain fully awake and listen to the instructions.

Introduction to Yin Yoga

Yin Yoga is a slow paced yoga practice ideally suited to people who are new to yoga. Yoga asanas or postures are held for a longer period of time (up to 5 minutes) to work into the connective tissues and joints. In turn, this aids in improving range of mobility over time and can support recovery after running or a gym session. Yin Yoga is the perfect complement to an existing exercise regime, or an ideal introduction to yoga and relaxation.

During this morning class, we will begin with some breath work known as pranayama. This helps to settle the mind and gives us a focus to use throughout the physical class. We will work through a series of yin yoga postures, to release tension and tightness in the hips and shoulders while making use of props including blocks and blankets (all provided.) Finally we will wrap up in fluffy blankets and use a lavender scented eye pillow to take relaxation with a guided Yoga Nidra to help you relax your mind and body.

If you need a bit of time out, need to work on your flexibility or would like to try a different style of yoga then this is the class for you.

Saturday 7 April 2018, 9.30am – 11am

108 Sun Salutations for charity

108 is a sacred number in yogic philosophy, and the practice of completing 108 Sun Salutations to mark the summer and winter solstices has become a tradition of modern yoga.

We work through 4 sets of 27 Sun Salutations, taking a short break in between sets. Each participant works at their own pace, taking any necessary rest breaks or modifications (think stepping back instead of jumping!) and completes as many of the 108 as they possibly can.

This is a great opportunity to do some yoga to celebrate the winter solstice, marking the changing of the seasons, to raise some money for a worthwhile cause and to do a bit of yoga.

All money raised will go towards helping vulnerable members of our society at Christmas.

Date and Time: Saturday 2 December 2017 1pm – 3pm
