How to Deal With Burnout: 3 Things That Are Actually Helping
The start of this year? A bit of a whirlwind. From painful rib injuries (thanks, relentless coughing) to a big dip in mood and a March that felt like a total write-off — let’s just say, I’m entering Spring Break well and truly burnt out. Read on to find out how to deal with burnout and what my plans are for overcoming the overwhelm.

1. Yoga Nidra Every Afternoon
Yoga Nidra, aka yogic sleep, is my go-to for deep restoration. Just 15 minutes can feel as refreshing as a full hour of dreamless sleep. I carve out 30 minutes every afternoon to lie down, pop on a guided recording, and fully unplug.

2. Cutting Back Screen Time (For Real)
Doomscrolling. Mindless game playing. Staying up too late chasing digital dopamine. I’ve been there, hard. But I realised it wasn’t helping me wind down — it was making things worse.
So I deleted the games, removed social media from my phone, and made it just inconvenient enough to stop the automatic scroll.
You don’t have to go nuclear like I did — even using built-in screen time limits can be a game-changer if you’re looking for simple ways on how to deal with burnout.
3. Rebuilding My Evening Routine
Sleep is everything when you’re trying to recover from burnout. I’ve given my evenings a complete glow-up:
- No TV after a set time
- Classic FM on while I do my skincare
- Gentle stretching, breathwork, meditation
- Reading a few pages in bed
It’s not about perfection. It’s about consistency.
Each of these changes is helping me feel a little more like myself again — fewer migraines, better mood, more energy. It’s a slow climb, but at least I know I’m moving in the right direction.
