Yin Yoga Sequence for Better Sleep

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, autumn and the metal element, are all about creating routines. By building structures to support us through the coming cooler and darker months, we can soothe our nervous system. This is the time of year we need the structure of a good morning and evening routine. If you are having trouble switching off at night try this yin yoga sequence for better sleep.

This yin yoga sequence for better sleep is an integral part of your evening wind down routine. With regular practice you can build a familiar and predictable foundation that sets the tone for your bedtime. As the weather becomes more unpleasant and the darker nights draw in, this is the perfect time to start an evening yoga routine.

Balancing the Yin and Yang

Most of the time I want to head home, eat food and lay on the couch with Jackson until I finally drag myself to bed. During this time, I scroll – on my phone or on the tv, trying to find something to catch my attention. More often than not I end up watching something I’m not interested in or reading something on social media that leads to a massive dose of comparison syndrome.

Needless to say this is not the ideally balanced evening wind down routine, and it does not often lead to a restful and restorative sleep. But when I make the time (and effort) to practice a yin yoga sequence for better sleep I reap more benefits than a restorative slumber.
